Bio

Dominik Nawrocki is a Polish writer, illustrator, and visual artist based in Berlin. He holds MA degrees in Journalism and Social Communication from the Jagiellonian University and New Media Art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

His practice moves between literature, illustration, publishing, and visual art, with a particular interest in the relationship between words and images. Through short fiction, drawings, artist publications, and interdisciplinary projects, he explores everyday life, social norms, and the subtle tensions hidden within ordinary situations. Humor, absurdity, and careful observation often serve as tools for examining broader cultural and social realities.

For many years, he has collaborated as an illustrator with Pismo, one of Poland’s leading literary and cultural magazines. He is also the author of Splotch (Plama), an illustrated children’s book distinguished by the international jury of the Jasnowidze competition organized by Dwie Siostry Publishing House. His short story collection Nails was selected as a finalist in the prose debut category of Literary Harvest (Połów) 2026, one of Poland’s most important competitions for emerging writers.

Alongside his artistic and literary practice, he co-curates POV (Point Of View), an artist-run exhibition space located in a former observation tower at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport. Over recent years, POV has developed into an increasingly active meeting place within Berlin’s cultural landscape, bringing together artists, writers, and local communities through exhibitions, conversations, and informal gatherings. Visitors often meet there not only to experience art, but also to spend time together, creating a unique atmosphere that combines cultural exchange with a strong sense of community.

Dominik is represented by Horst und Edeltraut Gallery, Berlin.
